Pausing from her duties for but a moment, she's sitting with us at the pool bar to share a cocktail.

Appleton VX on the rocks.

What kind of day are you having?

I'm having a fabulous one... the hotel is quite busy; we turned over the ballroom twice today and we are at full occupancy. These are the days that get my adrenalin pumping.

Socialite or homebody?

Flats or stilettos?

Flats for comfort, but stilettos have their place.

What's your style?

Classic-chic for the office and bohemian for social events.

My reading glasses, my BlackBerry, MAC compact and eyeliner, my medicine sachet, chewing gum and my Jamaica Pegasus pen.

Phyllis at the Beauty Bar on Lady Musgrave Road.

A drive to the hillside with a view of the city and sharing a picnic.

What's your idea of the perfect man?

The one I married... he takes really good care of me.

What's the best thing about being director of sales and marketing?

I'm able to be creative, I have lots of autonomy and I enjoy interacting with hundreds of people from all walks of life.

What projects are you currently working on?

I'm helping my children to expand our family business and using social media and Internet marketing tools to increase market share for the Jamaica Pegasus.

What's your latest obsession?

Twitter... social media, I'm excited... about the prospects, it's really a fantastic way of communicating.

What's the best piece of advice you've been given?

"Live for the moment."

Who or what inspires you?

I am inspired by the bright young Jamaicans I meet every day who are determined to change the fortunes of this country. The next generation will enjoy a better, brighter Jamaica.

And 10 years from now?

Retired and travelling the world.
